Architectural Shingle Roofing in Brookhaven, GA

A dependable roof with a layered appearance, installed according to the product instructions in every detail.

Why Installation Determines Performance

Architectural shingles are heavier than the flat 3-tab shingles common on older homes, with a laminated, dimensional profile that adds depth and helps disguise minor deck irregularities. They generally resist wind better as well. Still, the product is only part of the result. In our inspections, the most common causes of premature shingle failure are installation errors: fasteners driven outside the nail zone, too few fasteners, a missing starter course, absent leak barrier in valleys or old flashing left in place. Those mistakes rarely show on day one. They show up years later as blow-offs and leaks. Our approach is to follow the manufacturer's written instructions exactly. Fasteners go in the designated zone at the specified count. Starter runs along the eaves and rakes to give the first course a bonding edge. Underlayment covers the full deck, leak barrier protects valleys and penetrations, and drip edge and step flashing are installed new. Ridge cap is the product made for that purpose. We also evaluate attic ventilation, since heat buildup shortens shingle life. Every architectural shingle roof we install carries a standard warranty, and optional extended shingle and workmanship warranty coverage is available if you would like more.

Components of a Proper Shingle Roof

Each one plays a part in how long the roof lasts.

  • Starter at eaves and rakes

Gives the first course a sealing edge and resists wind uplift at the perimeter.

  • Correct fastening

Nails placed in the designated zone at the specified count per shingle.

  • Full underlayment

A continuous secondary layer beneath the shingles across the whole deck.

  • Leak barrier

Self-adhering membrane at valleys and around every penetration.

  • New metal

Drip edge and step flashing replaced rather than reused.

  • Proper ridge cap

Purpose-made cap shingles at ridges and hips.
